This Plants Plus focuses on strategies to increase your success starting plants from seed. Growing plants from seed can be a rewarding practice for gardeners of all skill levels. By understanding the germination process and the key factors required to grow quality seedlings, gardeners can improve their success growing plants from seed.

You’ll learn to:

  • Understand the three stages of seed germination
  • Understand the key factors driving seed germination (moisture, temperature, light)
  • Learn about techniques to improve seed germination (proper culture, priming, “secret sauces”)
  • Learn why and how to tone seedlings before transplant
